Székelykő (Piatra Secuiului)

Székelykő ("Rock of the Székelys", in Romanian: Piatra Secuiului) is a barren hilltop located east of Torockó (Rimetea), part of the Mountains of Torockó, dominates the landscape and dramatically rises over the village.

Starting from the village center, beside the church, you can follow the blue cross sign to climb the Székelykő. Do not prepare to a simple walk, because 550 m altitude difference has to be overcome to the summit. With an average speed, resting several times, climbing takes around one and a half hours. At the end of the climb you can see a magnificent view from 1128 meters altitude, which suddenly makes you forgetting the fatigues of the road.

Moving towards the top of the mount it is a little easier to descent to Torockószentgyörgy (Coltesţi) than the climb was from Torockó (Rimetea).
